The International Tourism Fair opens its 46th edition with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen

Madrid, 22 January 2026.- FITUR, the International Tourism Fair organised by IFEMA MADRID, celebrated the opening of its 46th edition with the presence of Their Majesties. The King and Queen of Spain were welcomed by José Vicente de los Mozos, President of the Executive Committee of IFEMA MADRID; Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid; Jordi Hereu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism; and José Luis Martínez Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, accompanied by a large delegation of national and regional authorities, ministers, government representatives and leaders from the tourism sector from around the world.
During the inauguration, the authorities toured the pavilions of the Exhibition Centre to learn about the proposals of companies and destinations present at FITUR 2026. Among the highlights was Mexico, located in Hall 3, which is participating as a Partner Country in this edition. Accompanied by various Mexican personalities, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, welcomed Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain to the country's stand.

He also highlighted the visit to the Knowledge Pavilion, located in Pavilion 12, where during the professional days—Wednesday 21, Thursday 22 and Friday 23 January— more than 250 experts from around the world contributed to the dissemination of best practices and knowledge, in addition to bringing together more than 190 travel technology companies.

To conclude their visit, Their Majesties signed the book of condolences for the victims of the Adamuz train accident, located at the Andalusia stand.
With the participation of more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries, 111 of which are officially represented, FITUR is being held until Sunday 25 January, displaying its offerings across nine pavilions.
The fair has thus consolidated its position, once again, as the largest global tourism platform, a key space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, the generation of business opportunities and the discovery of destinations around the world.
