On 16, 17 and 18 March 2022, the Ibiza exhibition centre FECOEV hosted the big Horeca Baleares Ibiza & Formentera event, where professionals from the sector presented their products for the first time on the island to an objective and professional public, creating spaces of confluence for closing deals, expanding portfolios and databases and exchanging views among the sector's professionals.

In addition to the exhibition of products, there were activities with tastings, demonstrations and conferences.

After a short tour of the stands, we were treated with excellence by some of the brands, where they showed us their products and gave us a tasting session fit for kings.

We started our journey and as soon as we entered we noticed the hustle and bustle and the joy of the locals and foreigners interested in learning about the latest trends in order to incorporate them with enthusiasm in their businesses already in operation or to start a new activity.

We were surprised by the friendliness and people skills of Pedro J Ferrer, who invited us to try the fresh pasta of Giovanni Rana, the master of fresh pasta, who fuses innovation and Italian tradition.

He prepares before our eyes some real delicatessen of fresh pasta stuffed with ingredients of the highest quality such as white truffle, mushrooms and cheese, ricotta with multiple varieties of cheese, turkey, sultanas and pine nuts, and an endless number of sauces, which made our salivary glands activate immediately.

The participation of Joaquin Mallafré could not go unnoticed, who presented us with a tasting only suitable for expert palates, serving us a succulent foie de Rougié Foie Gras, a privileged member of the great Chefs and Haute Cuisine, being the first producer of Foie Gras in the World, whose select preparation passes through his expert hands.

The brand provides packaging and foie gras for all tastes, in blocks, cases, terrines, whole, in pieces, raw, deveined, frozen and deep-frozen.

Truly a delicacy of the Gods!

Right in front of our eyes we come across the Sagner Champagne which harmonizes perfectly with the Foie de Rougié.

Yves tells us with love and briefly the history of the Sagner Champagne.  The Cooperative of Old Winegrowers of the Champagne wine region was founded in 1952 and has been in existence for more than 68 years. It has a production tool that takes into account the latest technical and environmental advances.

It thus reconciles tradition and modernity, and whose maximum requirement is the respect of the raw material from the fruit to the oak of the Avize forest.

Excellent sparkling wines from different types of grapes and vintages.

The three brands are distributed and represented exclusively in Ibiza and Formentera by Ibifood.

Ibifood has more than 8000 products, both national and international, characterised by their exclusivity, offering an unparalleled gastronomic journey around the world without leaving the island: Japanese, Mexican, Italian, French, German, Indian, Spanish...

We continued our tour amidst the chatter and laughter of the attendees, happy to be together after several years of social abstinence, and we came across two very important and significant representatives of our well-known region of Burgos, Morcillas La Revillana , Morcillas de Cardeña and Bodegas Valsotillo.

Maribel Martín, owner and manager of Morcillas La Revillana and Roberto da Silva, Chef , owner of Morcillas de Cardeña and president of the IGP ( Protected Origin Denomination) ,welcome us with enthusiasm and happiness and prepare for us ïn situ ̈ some morcillas from Aranda de Duero, in its different varieties such as the cow tripe, the supreme pork black morcilla and rice bomb, the select cow with rice bomb and we are left speechless before the author's morcilla and a preparation of tortilla de patata with potatoes already fried with olive oil, ready to just include eggs by the hand of Roberto .

Perfect for these times we live in, of comings and goings with no time for cooking.
Spectacular morcillas, perfect for cooking fried, sliced, roasted in the oven, grilled and with a mixture of spices that make them unmistakable. They are vacuum packed for better handling and preservation.

Bodegas Valsotillo (Bodegas Ismael Arroyo S.L.), is a family winery located in the Burgos town of Sotillo de la Ribera, considered one of the cathedrals of wine, the underground cellar of the sixteenth century is further proof of the dedication of this family to winemaking. There are 1,200 square metres of underground galleries excavated in rock, the main gallery being carved out of stone.

ValSotillo is aged in this historic cellar in excellent conditions, in a natural way, at a constant temperature of 11-12ºC. throughout the year, together with the absence of vibrations, noise and light, which allow our wines to age excellently.

The wine is aged in 225 litre American and French oak barrels and the rest of the time it rests in the bottle until it is put on the market so that we can offer it to our customers in the best conditions.

These are wines with an extraordinary constitution, broad bouquet and texture, which can only be achieved by very few wines after so many years.

The tasting comes from the hand of its Commercial Director Jose Marín Garcia who explains to us with dedication and care the maturation of some of the wines presented at the fair.

We find a quintessentially Ibizan product such as Hierbas de Ibiza Perfumes, with products made with natural essences from Ibiza including colognes, bath salts, gels, soaps and it is Antonio who gave us some bath fragrances of the brand for the delight of those who like to enjoy special moments in the shower.

Fragrances made with natural essences of lemon and orange peel, thyme, sage, lavender, rosemary, jasmine and orange blossom, among others. The olfactory notes are hesperidic, fresh and cheerful, perfectly nuanced with green aromatic accords.

Top notes: orange, lemon, lavender, lemon verbena, lemon verbena, lemon verbena, lavender, lemon verbena, lemon verbena, geranium, jasmine, jasmine.

Designed for both men and women, it provides a freshness that is enhanced by a natural alcohol of 100% vegetable origin from beetroot, the only one we use. Completely devoid of artificial colouring, its yellowish hue comes exclusively from the essences; being a 'living' product, the hue may vary depending on exposure to sunlight or ambient temperature, a normal phenomenon that evidences the presence of its natural essences.

We continued our little tour of the facilities and stands and came across Aniofe.
Carnes Aniofe has established itself as one of the major groups in the Spanish meat sector, with more than 45 years of experience.

Its star product is luxury meats, that is to say, those that stand out for their superior quality. Eighty percent of its merchandise is of national origin. The Montes de León and Extremadura are two of the places where it comes from. They are also importers of Wagyu with denomination of origin and Angus.

Jose Ayala is in charge of explaining and presenting a meat tasting with a great selection of cheeses and sausages and of course Beher, the most awarded Iberian ham in the world.

We cannot overlook the participation of Can Noguera, a company run by Jordi Riera, son of the founder of the brand more than 50 years ago.

They presented their wide variety of artisan bakery and pastry products ranging from white breads to wholemeal breads, with chia, Ibizan breads and sweet and savoury cakes.

Jordi very attentively shared with us some details of the beginnings of the family business created by his father and told us about the shops they have in Ibiza, as well as their daily distribution work for hotels and restaurants of the island.

We met the very friendly Rafael Guillen and Fany from the Guimar Group who knew how to win us over with their professionalism and affection and who explained to us in the smallest detail how they pamper their customers and detailed the great selection of products they represent, including organic products.

Guimar is a company that distributes ingredients for the bakery and pastry sector in Ibiza. They also supply restaurants with raw materials for bread and desserts.

If there is one thing that characterises the products distributed by Grupo Guimar, it is quality. Before being purchased, all of them go through an exhaustive selection process. Thus, they only work with some of the best brands on the market.

In Grupo Guimar's extensive catalogue you will find different types of flours, powdered desserts, meringues, products for preparing mousses, bread, jellies, chocolate toppings, jams, creams, fillings or, among others, pralines.

Excellent treatment was offered to us by the Luciano Pavarotti brand and Vicen Ribas Prats representing Garda, both experts in Italian gastronomy. Garda, with more than 20 years of experience in importing and distributing products of the most prestigious Italian brands. Both presented us with a selection of Italian charcuterie , wines of the highest quality and artisan products prepared in the old style.

We tasted their ¨Pinza ¨, which is truly spectacular and different, very crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, which we accompanied with magnificent young wines from Sicily and other regions of Italy.

The fair closed with a flourish at CAN FRED stand, with a performance starring the unexpected, Paul Ross, who was at the fair as a guest and the singer Esther Bauman who knew how to conquer the audience.

The audience stood curious to watch and quickly prepared their mobile phones to eternalize a unique moment. A moment in which the Brazilian artist knew how to conquer, making the exhibitors and the audience dance, shoute and relax.

Paul Ross barely had time to mix the music between photos due to the high demand of visitors,  product and brand owners eager and anxious to reflect on such a special, unique and fun moment after three hard days of intense work, stress and responsibility.

Esther Bauman briefly enlivened the closing of the fair with some songs in front of the fixed and perplexed gaze of the attendees at the improvised presentation of the artist duo.

There are no words left to reflect a fair full of good professionals, enthusiasm, dedication, professionalism and above all a great desire to repeat.

Until next year !!
